I was so happy the folks at Burger City let us order breakfast nearly after their breakfast serving time. I liked the hearty gravy and country-fried steak. But I thought the breakfast potatoes were a little bland.
Kitchen Adventures
I started craving a breakfast sandwich after reading through readers’ postings on Serious Eats. I figured my perfect breakfast sandwich would have a fried egg, chorizo and cheese. I’d pile everything on top a slice of sourdough bread. I adored this combination of flavors, especially when one bite punctures the egg yolk and smothering everything with another saucy layer. Yum!
I stumbled on Anjum Anand’s recipe for Chicken Korma on the Times website. It was super-easy to make. It took a few hours to marinate the chicken in the yogurt and spices, but totally worth the wait.
…korma comes from the tables of the Mogul royalty. It is usually quite rich but more delicate than many other curries.
I used coconut milk instead of creamed coconut. It had great flavor but I was hoping for a thicker curry. Next time, I’ll keep looking for the creamed coconut.
Pizza Pucks
Pizza Pucks are a Vacaville specialty. At least that’s what the waitress told us. These tasty pucks have steak and chicken plus a hearty dosage of garlic. They’re served with marinara sauce and they’re quite filling.
