My kid wanted to bake cookies with his mama.
Replaced vanilla extract (boring!) with Ube extract.
Added Ninong’s Cafe Ube cookie butter (OMG – tasted amazing. Alex couldnâ€™t stop tasting it!).
Finally, we replaced M&M candy with white chocolate chips.
So we made Ube cookies with white chocolate chips.
We modified a M&M sugar cookie recipe by I Heart Eating.
I am thrilled that Phoenix Lechon Roasters is offering pandesal with ube and cheese for Fatherâ€™s Day weekend. I ordered these delicious rolls for my hubbyâ€™s birthday last month. It took us (ok, me. It was me) less than 24 hours to polish off half-a-dozen rolls.
I loved having pandesal for breakfast on my first trip to the Philippines. I was 13.

“Be scientific about it.”
My husband’s advice to me when I screwed up my first attempt at baking bread Monday.
This was my second attempt.
I added fresh rosemary to my dough. My kitchen smelled amazing. My oven was so hot that it triggered the stovetop fan. It didn’t stop airing everything out until the oven cooled down a bit.
Mark said I should document my bread baking attempts. He said it may help me be more consistent with my quest for homemade bread.
